Exhibiting world wide, Anthea is a member of the RSW, The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours. Anthea regularly exhibits in the RSW Exhibitions, in Scottish galleries, and in her home town through the Cowal Open Studios, as well as exhibiting internationally.
Born and educated in Edinburgh, she studied for a Diploma in drawing and painting at the Edinburgh College of Art and after a travelling scholarship, studied printmaking as a postgraduate. Anthea worked full time teaching Art and Design in Edinburgh for thirty three years, whilst continuing to paint whenever possible.
After a long association with the Cowal lasting over thirty years, she moved to Dunoon in 2014.
Anthea's paintings and prints can be realistic or imaginative, inspired by the real world or poems and song lyrics, but always centred around colour, composition and often humour. Since moving to Cowal, she is increasingly lured to paint the ever changing sea outside her studio window. This last year, Anthea moved to a larger studio and began to work in a looser more flowing style, layering collage oil pastels and inks.
