New Year. New Start!!! And welcome to the first blog of 2017!
Firstly let me say a warm welcome to Ros and Neil McKenna – many of you will know Ros but as of January 1st Ros and Neil have joined the gallery as partners! Whoop for me… this is great news as it means we can take TIG to the next level. So gear up for a thrilling year!!!
It has been a busy start to 2017 already and we have some exciting plans in the pipeline. Some of you may be aware that we have spent the last two weeks renovating our gallery ready for the new season. Eek!! All quite terrifying but exciting! I’m not very good at handyman work, so it has been a learning curve for me. Whilst this has been going on we have been operating from the fantastic Spa and Leisure at Portavadie. Thanks to all those who have visited us. Being out with our own space has given us the time to plot and plan the calendar for this year which will be released very shortly.
With Ros and Neil on board we have scope to do a lot more so we have designed a dynamic and exciting series of exhibitions for this year including four solo exhibitions covering a range of mediums as well as mixed exhibitions throughout the year. With the gallery rejuvenated it is going to be very exciting!
What else can you look out for? Well with more man power we are planning on continuing our POP UP successes throughout the year…watch this space as we could be coming to a town near you! Art Escapes Argyll will also be relaunched with some fantastic practical sessions on offer that can be booked from Spring!
Before I finish this blog, the 1st of 12 to look forward to, I should probably talk about what’s happening in the gallery when we reopen.
Well we reopen with our 1st solo of the year! I still can’t quite believe I am saying this but amidst the chaos of January I have also be quietly producing work and for the first time in the gallery you will see an exhibition of mine. It’s been a long time coming but I am thrilled with the work and can’t wait to show it to you all. Here is a sneak peek!
To compliment my show we will be having an in focus exhibition of works by local maker Tom Butcher in our new ‘Dark’ room. I had the opportunity to visit Tom in his studio at the end of 2016 and whilst Tom is known for his beautiful, simple and functional tableware’s we have our hands on some incredible sculptural pieces of his that will leave you surprised! Excited much – I know I am!! Re opening dates will be announced shortly so keep your eyes peeled and we hope to see you over the coming months!
