Robin and family relocated in 2015 to the market town of Hexham in Northumberland, following twenty one years in rural Scotland where he’d embarked on his sculpting career.  The move has enabled him to concentrate full time on his passion for sculpting.  His work is represented at several galleries across the UK with commissions for clients undertaken at home and overseas.

Much of Robin’s work is symbolic but subtle and focused on movement – expression – postures and mannerisms.  A number of the pieces appear to defy balance in their forms whilst the dynamic surface finishes only add to the illusion and raise further question.  His inspiration is attributed to a connection and respect with the rural environment in which he lives.

Robin works in mixed media, each sculpture being unique and hand built using a diverse variety of materials including: epoxy clay, metal fillers, dyed silver leaf, heather root, native hardwoods and natural stone.

Each piece has a distinctive makers mark in the form of a seal with an embossed robin, typically stamped onto the base.
