‘I like the conciseness of design and the subversion of art and clay is a great place to set out with this way of way of thinking.’
Simon is the husband of Fiona Burrage who creates the beautifully colourful Harris Tweed bags. Simon is a Secondary Art Teacher in Nottinghamshire but spends all of his time when he is not teaching in Assynt in the North West of Scotland. As an artist himself Simon paints, creates sculpture and produces these irresistible miniature ceramic jugs and vessels. I am completely drawn to these pieces because I have long had a fascination with dolls houses and the scale of his pots is appealing. Simon hand-paints the black detail, the marks suggesting figures walking on a beach, the mountains in the background.
