Born in London to American parents, Matt's dual nationality and heritage is reflected in his work.  Studying at the University of Colorado Boulder, Matt majored in English Literature and Ethnic Studies.  On returning to London, he took a summer  foundation course at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London.  Since then Matt has exhibited across the UK, the USA and the Middle East, with work held in public and private collections.  Matt's work examines environment and narrative, referencing identity and emotion.
