Based in Scotland, Jackie studied Drawing and Painting at Glasgow School of Art before going on to complete a post-graduate teaching certificate.
'My work is an interpretation of the effects of light and weather on northern landscapes, mainly in the more remote areas of Northumberland, Cumbria and Scotland. The images I create are an evocation of a particular place and atmosphere rather than being purely representational.'
Jackie's paintings are mixed media, built up in layers using collage, sometimes using gesso as a surface. Jackie uses watercolour and combines it with acrylic paint and inks as well as oil pastels. Creating texture and atmosphere in her work is central, resulting in some aspects of the paintings becoming quite abstracted, although still retaining the original elements of the landscape.
