Based in the south west of England, Andrew completed his MA in 'Design: Ceramics' with a distinction at Bath Spa University in 2014.
Andrew works mainly with thrown porcelain using a colour palette from pure white through to vivid primary colours. Enjoying the technical challenge of porcelain and the tactile quality of the finished surface Andrew’s work is minimalist.
Andrew divides his work into a number of different series, with the pieces in the gallery being part of his Nebula collection. These vases are pleasingly simple forms, tall and narrow with their matt, patterned surfaces raising questions as to what we are looking at - close-up views of black and white photography or distant clouds, paint or charcoal marks? These monochrome, burnished surfaces are contrasted beautifully with bold and vibrant pops of primary colour.
